Spurs

The Spurs organization has been known to find diamonds in the rough on draft night -- George Hill and DeJuan Blair are just two recent examples -- and the team may have done it again in the 2010 NBA Draft. Selecting 20th, the Spurs took James Anderson, the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year for the 2009-2010 season. The shooting guard led the Big 12 in scoring and could develop into a starter for the Spurs.

Cowboys

Dez Bryant made headlines at Cowboys' Training Camp in San Antonio when he refused to carry veteran Roy Williams' pads after practice. The act of rookies carrying the pads of veterans has become tradition with the team, and Bryant's refusal didn't sit well with Williams. Bryant later said he wasn't aware of the tradition and that he wasn't trying to make waves. The Cowboys will be in San Antonio through August 6 -- find more detalis here.

Fans of seeing high-school football players become college and NFL stars will have plenty to talk about in San Antonio this season, because our city is home to two of the nation’s top five high school running backs.

Cibolo Steele’s Malcolm Brown (pictured right) is gaining some buzz as potentially being the next Adrian Peterson, the Oklahoma Sooner standout that would go on to become arguably the best running back in the NFL. James Madison’s Aaron Green may rank behind Brown in the minds of most, but Green has been compared favorably to Heisman Trophy-winning running back Reggie Bush.

Trinity University 2010 Football Preview

Trinity_LgoWhile a 7-3 record can be called a successful season, the Trinity Tigers have their sights set higher in 2010. The Tigers, coming off a third-place finish in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2009, kick off the 2010 season with a home game against Howard Payne on September 4. From there, the Tigers will face two conference opponents at home before striking out for three conference road games. After another home game on October 23 and two road games, Trinity will finish the 2010 regular season with a home game against Austin College.
